Evelyn Jean Pine

Tarot

The tarot is a catalyst for inner work, outer inspiration, and deep creativity and transformation.  I’ve been using the cards as a source of inspiration and insight for over twenty years.  I first studied the tarot, the kabbalah, and other “structures of magick” at the San Francisco Institute of Magickal and Healing Arts with Janet Carter, Diane Di Prima, Carl Grunberg and Shepard Powell.

Writing

I won an Emerging Playwright Award when Playground produced my short play, Back, directed by Jonathan Moscone at Zeum Theatre in San Francisco in May 2005.  My plays have also been produced in Charlottesville, VA, Kansas City, MO, and Bethesda, MD. I’m currently studying for my MFA in Creative Writing, Playwriting at San Francisco State University.  My short stories have appeared in Seventeen, Sassy, Inner Ear and Collage and I’ve co-authored three nonfiction books.

Organizational effectiveness

Since 1982 I’ve been helping organizations communicate effectively using appropriate technologies.  I created the Women and Girls’ Tech Up Project, a partnership of the Women’s Foundation and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, where leaders of women’s organizations and the girls those groups serve met online to build leadership and create new opportunities for participation (www.techup.org). San Francisco Women on the Web (SFWOW) honored me by naming me one of the Top Twenty-Five Women on the Web in 2001.

I live in the Bay Area with my husband and our nine-year old son.
